What to Expect

Why do people seek therapy? People come to therapy for a variety of reasons. Some are dealing with unexpected changes (unemployment, divorce, new job, etc.) or are not handling stressful circumstances well. Therapy can allow you to resolve problems caused by depression, anxiety, lack of confidence, relationship difficulties, grief, career challenges and creative blocks. Therapy can help provide some much needed encouragement and guidance to get through these periods. Many people also find that therapist can be a tremendous asset to managing personal growth, interpersonal relationships, family concerns, marriage issues and the hassles of every day life.

*Improving your relationships
*Finding new ways to deal with stress and anxiety
*Managing anger, depression and other emotional pressures
*Improving communication skills
*Getting unstuck from old habits and developing healthy patterns

What can I expect from the therapy process? The first scheduled session is 50 minutes long. To allow us to have more time to discuss your history and concerns, please come with your Client Forms already complete. In this session we will review your paperwork, what has brought you to therapy, and what you are hoping to get out of it. It is typical to meet once per week. At times, you may be asked to take action outside of sessions, such as reading a relevant, keeping a journal or testing a new skill.
